It's a strange thing, but if you're in the US, you're far more likely to be exposed to Chinese, Japanese, African or Native American art and culture than you are to learn about the art and culture of the Vikings and the Anglo Saxons.
The Vikings are the people who populated Scandinavia and then spread out over England, France, Russia and eastern Europe and even Sicily. The Anglo Saxons were phenomenal artists, among the very best that ever lived.
Why there is such public ignorance about these cultures is another one of those unsolved mysteries.
