Wal-Mart seems to fulfill three functions:

1. To destroy locally owned retailing impoverishing communities

2. To provide an outlet for cheap and shoddy goods made by China Inc. and its slave labor empire, thus destroying US manufacturing

3. Create a workplace that rolls back every advance working people have gained in the last 100 years

And do it all while receiving tens of billions of dollars of federal, state and local subsidies.
