Howard Zinn (1922-2010)

"Human beings are naturally aggressive and violent."

Really?

Under certain extreme conditions some human beings can be violent, but without the propaganda machine, without coercion, no modern war would be sustainable, let alone start-able.

It's an important thing to keep in mind when you hear people say that war is inevitable.

In reality, war is impossible without massive lying, propaganda and coercion. That doesn't seem terribly natural to me.
