It was big business
Grabbing poor people, including children, from the slums of England, Scotland, and Ireland and sending them to the West Indies as enslaved workers was a big business when the Americas were first being settled.
This indisputable fact of history is much obscured.
One thing wrong in this interview is the understatement of black slave rebellion.
There was plenty of it, but suppression was more successful of blacks because of the obvious logistical problem that made it harder for black guerrilla fighters to blend into the population, a necessary ability for any successful rebellion.
Interesting: Appalachia was populated largely with poor whites who did not want to support or be part of the plantation system and fled the region. Many had been severely abused under it.
So much basic history is suppressed.
