A new reason for wars?

Water - we all need it, we all use it, but many of us just don't think that much about it. Where it comes from, and how we get it, aren't really deemed important enough to talk about - we turn on our taps, and there it is. But, like all things, it won't be like that forever.

In the future, our dwindling fresh water supply will be a commodity of great value, one that will be fought over if diplomatic solutions are not found, and soon. The UN estimates over 300 potential water conflict sites around the globe, and that 3 million children die each year from water-related diseases. Many of these hot spots are located in North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. But if you pay attention, you may have heard about water crises in the American West.

Someday, we may be fighting over water instead of oil. After all, we can survive without oil. Without water, we wouldn't last very long at all.
