There used to be a thing called Debtors Prison. When someone got in over their heads, they'd be put in jail until they could raise the money to pay off their debts.
The new model is when politically connected people get in over their heads, they just pass their debts onto the public.
Of course, this has been going on for millennia all over the world, the US included, but rarely has been taken to such an extreme.
What will be the outcome of this extremity?
