Raising the bar on religious insanity
Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee recently asked: "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"
In fact, Mormons do believe this. According to their faith, which they are now sanitizing for public consumption, Jesus was Lucifer's older brother.
They also believe that the religion's founder Joseph Smith is a more important spiritual figure than Jesus Christ.
Blacks were not permitted to become members of the Mormon Church until recently. The Church elders had similar a similar low opinion of Native Americans.
(In spite of their bias, or perhaps because of it, Mormons found ready employment in the corrupt and oppressive Bureau of Indian Affairs, a US federal agency designed to deal with the "Indian problem." Mormons are also well represented in the ranks of the IRS, FBI, and CIA.)
The idea that if you're a good Mormon man you will become a God and get your own planet and a whole bunch of wives is still part of the deal.
They are over 12,000,000 Mormons worldwide. They control the State of Utah in the US and one of their members is a serious candidate for the Republican nomination for president, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
Freedom of religion? Sure.
It goes along with freedom to point out fraudulent statements by "religious" leaders.
Note that while a religion like Islam is slandered daily in the US news media, the news media protects Mormonism in its long running campaign to misrepresent its beliefs in public forums in a bid to gain increased political power in the US.
